Hello Scales families - thanks for an awesome Spirit Week last week! You all are so very generous to this school and because of that generosity, I will be following through on my promise to once again sleep on the roof of the school!
When the students are dismissed this afternoon, I will be up on the roof waving goodbye - and I will still be there tomorrow morning greeting the students when they return. Last year I had a blast doing this and I am more than happy to reward our students with this exciting event.
I will do my best to keep up with student messages on this blog. Last year it was quite popular - and there were long periods of time where I was talking to visitors down on the ground and could not reply to blog posts. Thanks for being patient - I will keep up as best I can!

I think Principal West should shave his head ON THE ROOF next year if we do even better than this year! :-)
ReplyDelete~Ms. Stiltner
Mr. West,
ReplyDeleteGood luck tonight on the roof. We hope you stay warm. Try some more Papa John's pizza this year. Next year, we want to see you kiss a pig!! We hope the weather stays nice and that you are not afraid of the dark!
From,
Mrs. Gifford's class
Maybe Principal West could kiss a pig while getting his head shaved on the roof...
ReplyDeleteAs we were driving away from school this afternoon, my kindergartener Jackson told me he didn't want to be a Principal when he grew up. When asked why, "Because I don't want to have to sleep on the roof!" He's quite concerned about you Mr. West, please watch your step!
ReplyDeleteWow - lots of ideas about how to top this next year - and they're all from my teachers! I tell you what - I'll kiss a pig while getting my head shaved on the roof if just one of my teachers will go along with it, too!
ReplyDeletePlease tell Jackson it is quite fun to do this and it is going to be a beautiful night!
The sun has just ducked below the hill across the street so I am no longer being blinded by the afternoon sun. The temperature also dropped a few degrees in a matter of minutes - really nice up here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visitors who have already stopped by!
I believe Mr. Oakley would be interested in participating with you next year...or possibly Mr. Isom or Mr. Murcray...What does everyone else think?
ReplyDeletePapa John's just delivered a piping hot pepperoni and sausage pizza to the roof... thanks Amy Brothers!
ReplyDeleteDear Mr.West,
ReplyDeleteI hope there are no werewolves out there...
Owen and Alix
Landon thinks you should raffle off tickets for students to sleep on the roof with you next year. But shaving your head and kissing a pig is good, too... as long as you don't get swine flu!
ReplyDeleteAre you missing Monday night football? Or is your pad rigged with DirectTV?
ReplyDeleteWilliam Helm (Mrs. Moody's class) wants to say thank you for spending the night on the roof...and he wants to know your favorite color and animal.
ReplyDeleteHave a restful night (:
hi Mr. West! Would you like some dessert tonight? We will come and see you soon!
ReplyDeleteNext year you should auction off a night (or two)on the roof for a mom....I know any mom would jump on the opportunity to read a book without interuptions and to have a quite night to themselves. Now that is priceless...
ReplyDeleteBella wants to know if you want her to bring you a coffee?? if so how do you take it? she will bring you some hand warmers too!
ReplyDeletelisten for the owls!

Elise says: "I hope that pizza doesn't burn you because it's so hot. You are the best Principal to sleep on the roof of the school. I bet no other Principal would sleep on the roof for their students."
ReplyDeleteHI Mr. West this is Rachel from Mr. Oakley's class. My family heard that there was a bobcat in my neighborhood by the school so let's hope that it can't climb ladders. Will you be on the news this year? Do you want me to bring anything for you when I come by? It is getting down to 53 tonight so be warm.
ReplyDeleteSee you soon!
Mr. West,
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed your Ghirardelli Chocolate I brought you this evening.
Next year I can bring my Pet Rat Sharpahy by for you to sleep with to protect you!
From: Sophia Featherstone
Mr. West,
ReplyDeleteJulianne and Andrew McCullough both want you to be sure and stay warm up there. Do you want us to bring you a hot Starbucks coffee in the morning?
Julianne is curious about how you manage to, shall we say, 'use the facilities' up there? :)
See you bright and early!

Katherine and Chloe have voted for the "kiss a pig" option on the blog, fyi!!! Wave to Bus 150 in the morning, okay?
Mr. West,
ReplyDeleteCatherine wanted to tell you to have a good night and that she will be sleeping well here in our cottage at the Outer Banks, where it is 75 degrees...

Are you having a good time
ReplyDeleteFrom Libby in Mrs. Davis's class
Hi everyone! It's been busy here tonight - thanks for the visits! I am well taken care of and should be fine with drinks through the night - thank you for the offers. :)
ReplyDeleteTwo cool things: Earlier there were about 10 people here and I saw a family of 6 deer walking across the front yard - we all had a neat viewing opportunity.
Then a few minutes ago two Scales students serenaded me with their violins to "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star!"
By the way - it is actually quite warm up here tonight... so far. Let's hope it stays that way! Channel 4 News is coming soon - should be on the 10 o'clock news again this year!
ReplyDeleteHi Mr. West,
ReplyDeleteHow is it up there on the roof? I hope you enjoyed the pizza and treats. Get a good night sleep and I will see you in the morning when I get off bus 203.
Don't let the bed bugs bite!!!
Love,
Kelly Connelly
Have you seen the scores for the monday night football game?
ReplyDeleteYou can be thankful that you are on the roof and not at the Monday Night football game. It's pouring rain there!
ReplyDeleteGood night Mr.West!
ReplyDeleteRemember to wish on a star and say your prayers!
See you tomorrow!
Your Friend,
Mary Everett Hurst

ReplyDeleteGreat job on the Channel 4 News. The girls wanted to come see you tonight but soccer practice and too much homework ruled that out. We taped your news 4 bit and will show them in the morning. Don't let the bed bugs bite.
ReplyDeleteThe Blaze Family
No bed bugs but one pesky moth!!
ReplyDeleteThe kids were so excited to visit you this evening and see that you really were on the roof. You did a great job on the news tonight. Have a great night!
ReplyDeleteSorry, that last comment was from the Thayers. We will see you in the morning at drop off.
ReplyDeleteThanks - that smoothie was perfect at the time - I appreciate you all thinking of me!
ReplyDeleteAccording to our poll, looks like I need to start puckering up for next year! Anybody got a pig?! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're crazy, I'm just saying! Hunter and Jake wanted to launch some items up there to you but I saved you once again. Saw you on the news too. Nice moth! He almost went in your mouth. I got blankets and propane if you get desperate. We Dickens live in the outdoors. As if you couldn't tell. Go Mountianeers! WVU #1. Your the man! Still crazy, but still the MAN!
ReplyDeleteBD
Thanks for visiting - and for holding your boys back from launching anything my way.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that moth decided to bug me just as I went live... oh well - at least I think I stayed on topic!
Cole Hubbard says: Good morning, Mr. West! We hope you had a great night on the roof! You sure are a great principal! There were a few sprinkles of rain this morning...we hope you are cozy and dry! Did you make s'mores on the roof?
ReplyDeleteGood morning! I had a pretty good night's sleep - much warmer than last year! No rain - and no s'mores, Cole!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, everyone, for investing in your child and Scales Elementary!
Good morning Mr.West! Did the moth spend the night in your tent? -Shelby Thayer
